What are the Academies?

Students choose among three creative academies for their elective focus: Digital Art, Film or Music & Audio Production. Each reflects the most common passions and talents of our unique student body. These elective academies provide an opportunity to learn up-to-date digital technologies as well as to apply those technologies to creative problem solving and produce real-world projects.  Please watch the video to learn more.

Digital Art

The Digital Art Academy exposes students to many different forms of both traditional and digital art mediums.  Students learn to not only enjoy art through personal expression, but also to purposefully apply it. Each student will complete the program with a digital portfolio of their work in support of pursuing professional employment or the next stage in their arts education.

Film

The Film Academy allows students to take an active role in content creation.  While other WCS high schools offer a traditional A/V course focused on broadcasting, this is the only school dedicated to single-cam filmmaking in Williamson County. Students will create music videos, short films, screenplays, documentaries, and capstone projects, and they will also capture our unique school events like coffee-house and theatrical performances for our Renaissance YouTube channel.

Music Audio Production

The Music Audio Production Academy provides  students with an understanding of music production, sound recording, live sound reinforcement and the foundations of the music business. Students learn industry-standard digital audio software, including ProTools. They learn how to use a recording studio to record and produce their own compositions and performances, and those of their classmates. Students learn how to assemble a live PA system, and how to operate a PA for various applications.
